A narrative spec trailer I made for the game, Batman Arkham Knight. I wanted to accomplish two things:
Game capture, sound design, video editing done by me.
I focused on creating a narrative trailer as my first trailer due to my knowledge and practice editing student films in college. The first issue I ran into was not knowing how much of the video should be cutscenes or gameplay, in the end the ratio is around 80% cutscenes with 20% of the video being gameplay from me.
I knew I wanted to learn masking in this video as a professor I showed a rough cut of this trailer to told me to cut down a cutscene in the video. It was very difficult and agonizing as the process was very meticulous and slow, but I found it to be very rewarding watching the final product when it was completed. Another thing I added was sound effects for one of the cutscenes as the original cutscene doesn't have any diegetic sounds. Using some of the knowledge I learned from school allowed me to create a convincing cityscape with the helicopter flying into the distance.
Overall, I believe it was a pretty good first attempt at a video game trailer and I'm proud of how it turned out, especially the mask transition and the soundscape I edited.
