There was a contest held by the Overwatch League to create a frag movie for the May Melee tournament in 2021 with a cash prize going to first place. I didn't believe I was going to get first place, which I didn't, but thought it was a great opportunity to capture some of my favorite moments during the tournament.
I wanted to focus on at least one specific play from each team played in the tournament and work my way from there. I had edited one of these the previous year, but it was cut very slowly so this year I wanted to push myself to edit faster and keep the energy up.
Overall, I believe I did increase the energy and gave the teams equal screen time, but I believe the pacing wasn't that great and my capture of the plays wasn't super spectacular. I had fun though and it was eye-opening the skill that goes into capturing an esports event rather than a trailer for a game.
